To introduce myself in a more refined manner, consider me a gentleman in the prime years of middle age, having made Kourou my home since November 2023—a charming corner of France.
Upon reflection, my affinity for exquisite imagery has been a lifelong companion, far outpacing my engagement with the art of photography itself. Portrait photography captivates me; I find beauty in landscapes, delight in the nuances of detail shots, and am fascinated by the stark allure of industrial and urban scenes. Yet, the prospect of spending days on end in a studio, amidst models, doesn’t quite appeal to me. Sometimes, the sheer joy of solitude—wandering outdoors, free from the clutches of any expectation—is unparalleled.
Within this digital space, you are invited to explore the crème de la crème of my photographic endeavors—visual narratives in their purest form, with little room for verbal discourse. To conclude my introduction, I present a brief narrative penned by a dear friend, crafted for an exhibition, offering a glimpse into my essence.
Relais d’évènements, témoins d’une époque ou bien pure construction artistique, les photos véhiculent un message, une idée, un concept, parfois même par leur seule esthétique. Certaines survivront à des vestiges du passé appelés à disparaître afin de laisser libre cours à la folle expansion des hommes dans un monde sans cesse aménagé, modelé, transformé, domestiqué. Depuis près de dix ans, je visite et capture des lieux délaissés. Conscient d’un arrêt progressif de l’activité industrielle, le besoin de rendre ces usines immuables avant leur destruction a pris une importance telle que cette pratique est devenue mon activité photographique majeure. Les sources d’inspiration sont multiples : des intérieurs baignés de lumière au travers de ce qu’il reste d’une verrière, des psalmodies d’un ventilateur chahuté par le vent ou encore une musique jouée par la pluie au travers d’une toiture délabrée. Dans cette sélection de photos proposées sur mon site, je vous invite à la découverte de lieux où des machines et des usines oubliées des hommes après les avoir servis durant tant d’années, ne reçoivent comme visites que celles de passionnés émerveillés.
Event relays, witnesses of an era, or purely artistic constructions, photos convey a message, an idea, a concept, sometimes even through their aesthetics alone. Some will outlive remnants of the past destined to vanish to make way for the rampant expansion of humanity in a world constantly arranged, shaped, transformed, domesticated. For nearly a decade, I have been visiting and capturing abandoned places. Aware of a gradual halt in industrial activity, the need to immortalize these factories before their destruction became so significant that this practice has turned into my primary photographic activity. The sources of inspiration are diverse: interiors bathed in light through what remains of a skylight, the chant of a fan buffeted by the wind, or even music played by the rain through a dilapidated roof. In this selection of photos offered on my website, I invite you to discover places where machines and factories, forgotten by men after serving them for so many years, only receive visits from awestruck enthusiasts.
